We are starting to sell "early bird" tickets to the Monday, September 10th Lake Erie Energy Development Corporation (LEEDCo) "Wind Farm" meeting. Save $5 by purchasing before July 31st. I have included Rev 10 of the flyer in the Resources section, below, and have also attached it hereto. Hope to see you there!
The Akron Physics Club (APC) has offered to the Akron Council of Engineering & Scientific Societies (ACESS) a Monday, June 4th Joint Societies meeting: a tour of Akron Waterways Renewed. Since Akron ASME is one of the ACESS member societies, we are invited to this event. I have attached the *.pdf to this note, as well as posted it in the Resources section of Akron ASME's presence on asme.org. Hope you can attend!
I have just loaded the Spring/Summer Lorton Technology Professional Engineer (PE) Continuing Professional Development (CPD) webinar schedule into the "Resources" section as a *.pdf, and will try to attach it hereto, also. Please note the new Ethics requirement and Tony's first 2018 Ethics webinar coming up Monday, June 4th.

I have two events to mention to you for next month: 1) Thursday, February 22nd Akron EWeek banquet; and, 2) Cleveland SAE Monday, February 26th Auto Show. For the first, you save some money by buying your tickets before February 1st. For the second, I offer this SAE event due to the ongoing collaboration I have with Cleveland SAE. Unfortunately, only the first event is attached hereto, as a *.pdf, since this asme software does not seem to allow me to attach two files. So, you will have to get the second one from the Resources section of this Akron ASME presence on asme.org. I do have both of these events there.
Hopefully attached, and definitely within this site's Resources section, you will find our Akron ASME January newsletter. Hope to see you at our upcoming Wednesday, January 17th meeting.
Hello, again, folks:
Good news, bad news: The Akron Urban League (AUL) finally gave me permission to post its attached *.pdf with the details of Cara's award ceremony (you will also find it in the Resources section). This is the good news. However, the bad news is that asme.org seems to not permit me to post any file larger than 10 MB, and only of certain types (*.mp4 files not included). So, the AUL audiovisual *.mp4 file of Cara introducing herself and her background is too big (~123 MB) and not of an allowable type for me to post. It is a wonderful video, and an excellent resource to show young ladies interested in STEM careers. I would like to share it with anyone interested. Just email me, at firstname.lastname@example.org, and we can arrange to get it in your hands.

Treasurer & Program Chair, Akron ASME
I am so pleased to inform you that our own Ms. Cara Adams has been inducted into the Akron Urban League’s Academy of Leaders, on Friday, August 18, 2017 at the AUL’s 92nd Gala at Quaker Square. She is currently Chief Engineer of Bridgestone Americas Motorsports and Firestone Racing. She was one of four women inducted in the inaugural class of “Women Who Soar”, ladies leading the Akron STEM community.
Although I have personal access to an announcement of her award and a brochure from the event, I have yet to be able to obtain permission to use any of that in our newsletter and on asme.org. So, to give you her background, I have resorted to something that IS under my control: my letter nominating her, which you should see attached.
Two important updates to this newsletter: 1) Cara Adams has been inducted into the Akron Urban League's Academy of Leaders; and, 2) Lorton Technology's fall webinar schedule is now firm, with the first one a week from now. See Rev 1 of the newsletter attached hereto and within the Resources section.
I have just posted it to the Resources section of our site, and hopefully, I will be able to attach it hereto. Hope you enjoy the upcoming events!
To go along with the flyer announcing our Tuesday, April 4th Membership Appreciation/Renewal Night & Industry Expo, please see the Handout attached and within the Resources section. It is a summary of information about Akron ASME, its officers, meetings, and benefits of ASME membership. Hope to see you there!
Please come enjoy the evening with us on Tuesday, April 4th, 2017 at the Sons of Herman, 1120 East Waterloo Road, Akron at 5:30 PM. Format and menu same as previous years. It is free to all attendees. You need not be a member of ASME to come, but we will try to show you the benefits of membership. See the attachment below, or the "Resources" section for a flyer. Hope to see you there!
Attached (hopefully) and within "Resources", please find the January newsletter.
For those of you who need Professional Engineer (PE) Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours yet this year, I draw your attention to the Lorton Technology webinars on page 14: one more in 2016, starting this Saturday, worth 5 hours. Act quickly, if you want "in"!

One of my Akron ASME colleagues, Steve Nuspl, noted that one of our Akron ASME officers was recently interviewed on Cleveland's Channel 3 news, about her career with Bridgestone Americas' Firestone Racing. See the link:
Enjoy, as I did!

Cleveland SAE has extended an invitation for Akron ASME to join them in a Monday, November 14th Polestar Motor Racing tour in Chardon. This event will include "Student Appreciation" for the participants on the SAE teams at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland State University, and the University of Akron. Monetary awards will be given to them. And, they have been invited to bring their vehicles to display. In addition, you will have the chance to view Polestar's vehicles and talk with their personnel.
As usual, if you register through Cleveland SAE, you will need to pre-pay. See flyer attached hereto, and also at
elsewhere on this website.
However, once again, Cleveland SAE is allowing me to take all reservations from Akron ASME at firstname.lastname@example.org or 330/864-7555 (please leave a message and I will call you back to confirm your spot). Students are free, but you still need to tell me you are coming, so I can give them a "count". Adults are $10. I need your reservations by Monday, November 7th, please. Please give me your name, affiliation, status (adult or student), and an email address and/or phone at which I can reply to you. I will be sending a personal check to Cleveland SAE in advance of the event, on behalf of all who register through me, and then you can pay me back at the event, or later. Since I will be personally responsible for paying for you, please do not take this commitment lightly, i.e., if you register through me, I expect you to pay me, whether you come, or not.
Should be a wonderful evening. Thanks for considering coming to enjoy it!
Hopefully attached, and in Resources, please find the flyer for the Akron ASME Wed., Oct. 12 Thirsty Dog Brewery tour. The flyer for the Akron Council of Engineering & Scientific Societies (ACESS) Thur., Nov. 3 Honors & Awards Banquet is in Resources. Hope you can make it to these events!
