Nominations for Communications and Outreach Specialist
Dear ASME Bioengineering and SB3C community,
I’m writing on behalf of the Bioengineering Division to tell you about an exciting opportunity to have an impact for our community. We are accepting nominations for a new Communications & Outreach Specialist. You may nominate a colleague or self-nominate. This is an ideal position for an early-career faculty or industrial member. It’s a great way to learn your way around our society and to interact with the leaders of the field (ASME Medal winners, TCOM chairs, journal editors, BED Executive Committee, etc.) and to position yourself for a productive career. Your role will be listed on our leadership site: https://community.asme.org/bed_executive/groupleadership.aspx
For years, we have had a wonderful biannual newsletter, but times are a-changin’. Print newsletters are long gone, and a PDF newsletter is old news. How will we get up-to-date information about ASME awards, technical committees, conferences, etc. and celebrate our accomplishments as a field? We need a new media strategy leveraging social media and other information channels. The individual that is named the ASME BED Communications & Outreach Specialist will get to define that vision with the executive board and build a team to help them achieve it.
To nominate yourself for a 2-year term, please send a statement of interest with a few ideas (bullet points) of how you would approach the position and your short CV/resume to me at email@example.com by May 1, 2020.
Chair, ASME Bioengineering Division
