Overview
The Design for Manufacturing and the Life Cycle (DFMLC) Technical Committee is in the Design Engineering Division of ASME. Mission of DFMLC Technical Committee
The mission of the DFMLC committee is to disseminate practices, theories, and computational methods dealing with all areas of design and manufacturing integration amongst the engineering community as well as to encourage the growth and recognition of the value of design and manufacturing integration.
Responsibilities of DFMLC Committee
The committee organizes the DFMLC Conference at the International Design Engineering Technical Conferences (IDETC) sponsored by the ASME.
The committee identifies and recommends candidates for Associate Editor positions to the ASME sponsored journals.
The committee identifies ASME members who have made significant contributions to the area of design for manufacturing and the life cycle and coordinates their nomination to the rank of ASME fellow.
The committee organizes general body meetings to discuss issues related to the promotion of the area of design for manufacturing and the life cycle and plan future activities.
Committee Membership
The committee consists of committee officers and general members. Officers of the committee include Chair, Vice-Chair, and Secretary. Committee officers are responsible for running the committee, reporting to ASME, organizing general body meetings, and electing chairs and co-chairs for various committee-sponsored events. Everyone who is interested in the area of design for manufacturing and the life cycle and is a member of the Design Division of ASME is also a member of the committee.
