  Endurance Challenges

For the 2016 ASME HPVC West, the Parcel Pickup and Delivery has been chosen as the venue specific challenge.

Please note that this year, we will be taking a strict approach to the rule concerning the damage to the the parcel. The specific penalties regarding the sustained damage will be covered in the riders meeting the morning of the endurance event.

 Report Submission Instructions

Submission of Design Report and Innovation Report

Please help facilitate a smooth organization process by following these simple guidelines:

  1. Email your submissions as PDF attachments to HPVC@ASME.ORG
  2. The subject of your email and the name of your attached file should include: your school words "East" or "West", depending on which event you are attending, and description of the document, such as "Design Report" or "Innovation Report"

For example: Big Tech College East Design Report…..Team Rosters and Team Leaders Please take a moment to provide us with your Team Roster.

Submission of Team Roster

When you are somewhat certain of your team's attendance, please send us your roster. Please specify who the Team Leader is (you may have more than one). If We Need to Call You We would like to be able to contact you if need-be, so please include at least two phone contact if possible.

Friday April 22, 2016 at Santa Clara University, Wiegand room in Vari Hall

8:00 - 9:00 HPVC Team arrives and sets up registration

8:30 - 9:00 Judges meeting prior to the presentations

9:00 - 17:00 Team Presentations and On-Site Check-In

  • Each team will be provided with a time for their presentation prior to the event.
  • The presentation will consist of both Innovation and Design presentations taking no longer than 12 minutes with 3 minutes for judges questions
  • In the event that you exceed the time allotted time you will be cut off

~17:00 Judges meet to finalize design scoring

~18:00 Judges post design event scoring to HPVC Facebook Page

Saturday April 23, 2016 at SJSU Park and Ride Lot 300

7:00 - 8:30 HPVC Team sets up event

  • All signs to parking need to be set up
  • Safety test course needs to be set up first
  • Start the setup of the scoring system

8:30 - 11:30 Static Judging and Performance Safety Test

  • All teams will have vehicles present at the static judging area before 8:30
  • Any teams missing from the static judging area at 8:30 will be omitted from the Sprint event
  • Vehicles may be worked on inside the static judging area

11:30 - 12:00 Drag Event Riders Meeting

  • All riders must be present at the riders meeting
  • Teams missing from riders meeting will be omitted from the drag event

12:00 - 13:45 Drag Event Qualifying Runs

14:15 - 16:00 Women's Drag Event

16:00 - 17:45 Men's Drag Event

18:00 - 19:00 Tear down and finalize/posting of scores

Sunday April 24, 2016 at Santa Clara County Fairgrounds

7:00 - 8:30 HPVC Team arrives and sets up registration

    8:30 - 9:00 Endurance Riders Meeting

    • All riders must be present at riders meeting
    • Teams missing from riders meeting will be omitted from the endurance event

    9:00 - 9:45 Endurance Course Open Practice

    10:00 - 12:30 2.5 hour Endurance Event

    • The endurance event will start at 10:00 regardless of the number of teams present at the start line
    • If you are unable to make the start time you may start at a later time

    12:30 - 14:30 HPVC Team Teardown the course

    12:30 - 14:30 Judging Team to verify scores and awardees

    14:30 - 16:30 Awards Banquet at the fairgrounds

    Travel and Accommodations

    Participants are responsible for arranging and funding their own travel and lodging. Please be sure to arrange for your trips in advance - the event begins ON TIME.

    Directions to Santa Clara University: 500 El Camino Real, Santa Clara, CA 95053

    From San Jose International Airport: (3.3 miles, 7 minutes)

    Get on I-880 S and take The Alameda/CA-82 exit toward Santa Clara. Turn right onto The Alameda/CA-82, then left onto The Alameda. Continue onto El Camino Real. University will be on the left.

    If participants do not have access to a vehicle they can take a taxi from the airport or take the #10 bus to the Santa Clara Caltrain station that is conveniently located across the street from campus. Bus runs every 15 minutes 6AM-11PM.

    From San Francisco International Airport: (33.8 miles, 40 minutes)

    Get on 101 S and take the De La Cruz Blvd exit after about 30 miles. Merge onto W. Trimble Rd. Continue onto De La Cruz Blvd. Continue onto Lewis St. Turn left on Lafayette St. Take 3rd left onto Benton St. Turn Right onto El Camino Real. University will be on the right.

    If participants do not have access to a vehicle they can take a taxi to campus. It is not recommended to take public transit because of the multiple bus changes that it requires.
