Description:
Moral philosophy, or ethics, is the study of right and wrong. Ethical behavior is influenced by education, experience and social norms. We will discuss basic ethical philosophical concepts and how certain theories have helped shape the laws of our land. We will also discuss the tremendous trust placed upon design professionals by the general public and how ethical violations erode that privilege. Learning objectives are: understanding the basic concepts of moral philosophy; review specific theories that shape the rules and regulations of design professionals; discussion of the resulting public expectations; and review of case studies highlighting ethical dilemmas and applicable regulations.
