  • Announcing the Reusable Abstractions of Manufacturing Processes Challenge

    Dear Colleagues,

This letter is to inform you of the NIST Reusable Abstractions of Manufacturing Processes Challenge. The goal of this challenge is to invite students, faculties, researchers, and manufacturers interested in submitting models of any manufacturing process and demonstrating application of the ASTM E3012-16 for characterizing Unit Manufacturing Processes (UMP) for information sharing and sustainability assessment. The goal is for these standardized models to be reused, extended, and modified for many applications including simulation and optimization. We envision a collection of the resultant models can be composed into system-level analysis that will have the potential to become great resources to facilitate and speed up models development that will benefit the manufacturing community. To reach a wider audience, we are asking you help spread the news to those who may be interested.

Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you.
