The Awali Field in Bahrain located approximately 40km south of the capital city Manama is a mature oil and gas field owned and operated by Tatweer Petroleum. In order to increase production from the Awali Field the owners are undertaking a field development project where a new drilling programe will install approximately 600 new wells up to 2018. To process the increased production new light oil facilities are required in the Bahrain field and it is planned to install two (2) New Tank Batteries and fifteen (15) New Well Manifolds. Each Tank Battery will have a set of common facilities serving two separation trains with provision for a third separation train to be added in future. Each Tank Battery separation train will be designed to handle an oil flow rate of 10,800 bbl/day, a produced water flow rate of 69,500 bbl/day and 1% of the total liquid volume for residual gas. Each Well Manifold will be designed to handle an oil flow rate of 3,000 bbl/day, a produced water flow rate of 20,000 bbl/day; and an associated gas flow rate of 20 MMSCFD. New pipelines are to be installed to provide connectivity with both new and existing field infrastructure.

JGC Gulf International won the contract with the most competitive bid price of US$42.4m. The contract under LSTK format include the design of the gas compressor, a gas turbine driver, pipelines and associated gas gathering lines, power supply and the station's process equipment and utilities. The gas compressor is designed to have a capacity of 60 million cubic feet per day (cf/d) and will help ensure continuous handling of up to 310 million cf/d of associated and refinery off gas.
