experience

Rotordynamic Design- Dy.Manager
ELGI Equipments Ltd, April 2014 to Present, Coimbatore India
(Original Equipment Manufacturer(OEM))
Major Achievements include 1.Identification of potential excitation for a 2-stage Centrifugal Air compressor and its determination through testing 2.Prediction of critical speed and amplification factor using RARE and comparison with test results. 3.Containment calculation for impeller and scroll. 4. Flow calculation for the drain of oil from the gearbox to the oil tank. 5. Initial one dimensional design including velocity triangles for a 2.3m3/s flow fan. 6. Submitted a paper in ASME conference with name PREDICTION AND COMPARISON OF CRITICAL SPEEDS AND POTENTIAL EXCITATION USING INHOUSE DEVELOPED SOFTWARE FOR A INTEGRALLY GEARED CENTRIFUGAL AIR COMPRESSOR and accepted for presentation.

Sr.Engineer Technology development
ELGI Equipments Ltd, April 2010 to March 2014, Coimbatore India
(Original Equipment Manufacturer(OEM))
Main Contribution were 1. Design of a Gear coupling for an 800hp Centrifugal Air Compressor 2. Torsional Analysis of the drive train for 800hp 3-stage centrifugal air compressor. 3. Understanding the design philosophy behind Hydrodynamic bearings, Shafts and gears used in the drive train.

Design Engineer
ELGI EQUIPMENTS LTD, June 2007 to March 2010, Coimbatore India
(Original Equipment Manufacturer(OEM))
Joined ELGI as a Graduate Engineering Trainee through campus placement.

education

Cranfield University
Master Of Science, Design of Rotating Machines, Sep, 2011 to Sep, 2012
Study included the Design of hydrodynamic bearings, condition monitoring and fault diagnostics of rotating equipments such as turbines and compressors . As a part of the main project a program is made with name RARE, which is capable of doing rotordynamic calculations such as critical speed both torsion and lateral, response for unbalance and is validated against standard problems and commercial software such as XL-rotor,DyRoBeS etc.

TKMCE Kollam, Kerala
Other, Mechanical Engineering, Mar, 2003 to Mar, 2007
Completed with an aggregate of 8.1cgpa and did the main project in Indian Space Research Organisation in the field of Electro-Mechanical actuator.

projects

Design a Wind Turbine  by  Mathew P James, Andrea Basaguren Díez, Alvaro Winyard, Christos Dalgkalis, amine hammami, Ali Pakseresht, Georgi Angelov Dimitrov
April, 2012 - May, 2012
This design project was held among all the students of the course. It was an intense two weeks project and the objective was to carry out the mechanical design of a whole Wind Turbine from scratch

Awards

John Greenless Findlay Memorial Award
This is given in Recognition of Endeavour and Initiative. "The John Greenless Findlay Memorial Prize has been awarded to you in recognition of your excellent academic performance, your industriousness, and your personal qualities which had a very positive impact on the group dynamics of the Design of Rotating Machines MSc Course cohort of your year. Your average marks for the taught part of the course were the highest for the year and you also had a high mark for your thesis. Overall your combined mark was the second highest of the course which is all the more significant given that we had a number of very academically strong students from some of the best universities" by Dr Joao Amaral Teixeira Lecturer Course Director Design of Rotating Machines MSc School of Engineering, Building 52 Cranfield University, Cranfield, Bedfordshire MK43 0AL, UK Tel: +44-(0)1234-754679 Fax: +44-(0)1234-750728 email: j.a.amaral.teixeira@cranfield.ac.uk
