I am leading a team of dedicated Lubrication Engineers country wide. As team Lead I am also acting as a Liaison between MAL Pakistan & ExxonMobil Technical Support team. I am monitoring Technical Support Engineers that are allocated in different locations across the country and assisting Sales Team of respective region to cater customers technical queries accordingly. My monitoring task includes enlisted below entities: * Evaluations and selection the proper lubricants to use. * Recommended Intervals for Oil drain. * Assistance in purchasing lubricants by identifying which companies and products can be used interchangeably in a cost-effective manner. * Monitoring Used Oil Analysis & Reporting Program performed by our Lab team through ExxonMobil Progressive Analysis Program (EMPA). * Development and implementation of Quality Assurance Programs and Used Lubricant analysis programs. * Monthly reporting of our planned activities to ExxonMobil. * lube surveys; specifies lubricants and procedures to those buying or installing new equipment. * Get customer’s endorsements after successful completion of Mobil Lube run with significantly better results and savings. * Devise Proof of Performances to be circulated globally as a trademark of Supreme Performance of Mobil Lubricants. * Plan Lube Clinics on customer premises to educate them about the importance of Machinery Lubrication for their desired application. * Maintains records of lubricants by application throughout the plant. * Troubleshoots and problem solves supposed lubrication failures to identify root cause. Identifies corrective action to take and follows up.

Performed Inspection to monitor Lubrication Oil performance in Gear Box of Kiln in a Cement Plant, we have inspection enlisted below Segments: - Associated Oil Filters - Gear Box - Associated mechanical components with Gear Box - Lube Oil gauge - Flushing Procedure to introduce recommended Synthetic Oil in place of previous one from another Brand - Equipment handling by plant maintenance Team - Any affected auxiliary equipment Brief Description: o Customer has encountered foaming issue in its Gear Drive System for Kiln with our Synthetic Gear Oil. Upon careful site monitoring we have concluded that there was no foaming found in the system; however presence of agitation and bubbles were clearly visible. Further investigations revealed that they have not followed the proper recommended Flushing procedure for Synthetic Oils, there was no Sump Oil consumption record, Lube Oil consumption gage was also found missing on the Oil Sump. In addition to that we have immediately tested 03 samples from different Third Party Labs & their reported results indicated that Oil properties were found normal and fit for further use.

On-Site Engineering Inspection at Balochistan Glass Limited  by  Syed Faizan Ahmad, SYED ALEEM ALI

Prelude: Balochistan Glass Limited's South Unit is manufacturing Glass products including Bottles etc, the company has 02 GE Jenbacher 320 Engines (1064KW each). Both of them were lubricated by Mobil Pegasus 710 , low ash Gas Engine Oil. Since at that time GE Jenbacher use to recommend low ash lube oils for its Type 03 series. Afterwards recommendations were changed and now low ash lube oils are recommended in these type of Engines. Problem: The customer has converted both of their Engines after their Major Overhaul to our Next Generation Gas Engine Oil "Mobil Pegasus 100" and encountered a huge amount of Specific Lube Oil Consumption "SLOC" & Daily Top-ups. Intimation to our Technical team was raised by the customer to inspect the root cause of the situation. Observations & Final Words: It has been observed in many Gas Engines that their SLOC and Daily Top-up rise to twice or thrice the actual amount just after they initiate operation after a major/minor overhaul. This huge amount of consumption use to dry out during the passage of time and normally after 1000-1500 Oil Hours of continuous operation the equipment usually reaches a stable state with a much lower SLOC and Daily Top-up values than before the Overhaul. Same situation had happened in their premises but with a slight more complexions: - There was no Separate Feed Oil Tanks found - There was a leakage in Lube Oil Supply Line - Improper Calculations of Top-ups Final Words: Top-up rise has justified itself while keeping in mind above mentioned facts and a recent Major Overhaul however our technical team has facilitated the customer by providing them timely Used Oil Monitoring. With slight improvements in customer vicinity maintainence, their record management and observations the situation had been dealt quite well by our Technical Support team.

On-Site Engineering Inspection at Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Unit 01  by  Syed Faizan Ahmad, SYED ALEEM ALI, Mohammad Imran Farooqi, Kashif Waqar

Prelude: Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Unit 01 has quite big CPP plant to cater their Power requirements , they have a Tri-Generation Setup with a Solar Turbomach 10MW Gas Turbine connected to a Siemens 2.5 MW Steam Turbine with an HRSG that has an output of 40 bars that further distributes this dry steam to their process plant for utilization. Problem: They had encountered a miscibility issue in their Steam Turbine Unit that has caused them a sudden shut down, they invited our Technical Support Team to inspect, detect and identify the problem areas. Observations: Our Team visited the customer site and inspected their Steam turbine, since they had switched on the Turbine after a very swift shut down in which they have centrifuged the system since they simply can't afford prolong shut down. We had observed following key points: - In winter, fog causes alot of different pressure issues in which many auxiliary equipment's either stop working or forced to trip - Secondly when the dew point temperature of air entrapped inside the values and seals drops down from the ambient air temperature then condensation takes place at the inner side causes a certain amount of miscibility. - Leakage due to Cooling tanks or Water bypass lines. - Steam Condensation especially near seals We had collected 02 Samples one before centrifuging and one after the cleaning operation. It is suggested to go for either a dry air purge or Vaporization Impact rather than Centrifuging since these 02 operations can deduce huge amount of miscibility then centrifuging but the later is a much cheaper and easier procedure to be adopted. Final Words: Lab Test results indicated no halogens presence clearly suggesting that Cooling tank is working well, there is either a dew point drop factor or leakage within supply lines

Performed Inspection at Major Overhaul of a JGS 320 Engine at 85000 Machine Hours to monitor: - GE Jenbacher J 320GS Gas Engine's internal metallurgical behavior - Any fatigues/failures - Lube Oil Channel - Hindrances in pathways of Lube Oil and Water - Any affected auxiliary equipment Observations & Final Words: Regular Engine Inspection was planned at a major overhaul of one of the 1064 KW Gas Gen-set of the Customer. Upon careful site monitoring all running auxiliary equipment's were found in good condition and normal ash deposits were found on cylinder heads & valves. Although the customer has missed out a minor at 60,000 Hours still the condition of Gen-set was found satisfactory at 85000 Hours. However to achieve prolong drain Intervals New Generation Gas Engine Oil “Mobil Pegasus 1005” was recommended to the customer.

Upon careful site monitoring all running auxiliary equipment's were found in good condition and no such ash deposits were found on cylinder heads & valves. Shining Honing marks were seen during the inspection which are an evidence of clean and better performance of Mobil Pegasus 1005 , the next generation Gas Engine Oil against its competition brand

Performance Monitoring - Shakarganj Bio Gas Plant  by  Syed Faizan Ahmad, SYED ALEEM ALI

Inspected the performance of 08 Units of GE Jenbacher JGS 320 Engines installed at Shakarganj Mills and are running on Bio-gas, it is one of its kind plant in Pakistan producing 08 MW Captive Power with Bio Gas. We have inspected following parameters: - GE Jenbacher J 320GS Gas Engine's internal metallurgical behavior - Any fatigues/failures - Lube Oil Channel - Hindrances in pathways of Lube Oil and Water - Any affected auxiliary equipment - Blow By Filter - Lube Oil Filter Brief Description: Regular Engine Inspection was planned at a minor of one of the 1064 KW Gas Gen-set of the Customer. Since the customer is using Class "B" Gas for 08 MW Captive Power , our recommended Medium-Ash Product "Mobil Pegasus 710" was found performing well against a competition brand "Shell Mysella MA 40" which has provided us an edge to capture from 02 to 05 Gensets out of 08 against our competitor. So we can conclude that with the use of Mobil Lubricants, Gas Engines not run they actually FLY.
