This event is part of the "Industry Days" series focused on Early Career Engineers (students thru 10 years exp.) This session is being hosted by the ASME University of Michigan chapter along with ASME Metro Detroit Section, in order to help Early Career Engineers gain an awareness of various industries where Mechanical Engineering skills are applied. The aim of this event will be to give attendees an opportunity to learn more about the automotive industry, and to ask any questions they may have.
The event will feature an Engineering Panel, consisting of Automotive Industry Professionals, academic researchers and recent graduates working in the field, who will discuss the following topics:
1. Key opportunities and trends on the horizon for the Automotive Industry.2. Key challenges driving evolution of the industry.3. Personal experience and insights of participants ( applying engineeringknowledge, learnings from working in the field, description of typicalresponsibilities, etc).4. Role of Mechanical engineers, especially their interaction with other fields (aspecial emphasis on the increasing digitization of a traditionally mechanical field, and the associated evolution of the role played by Mechanical Engineers).5. Advice to students interested in the Auto industry, either in their careers orgraduate studies and research opportunities.
In addition, a part of the schedule would be reserved for the audience in attendance to ask questions of the panelists. Further we welcome seasoned professionals to join in this event also as it can give them an overview of the current technology developments within the industry and hopefully add any mentoring advice to the group during the Q&A session.
