    Tours 10:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.

Beginning as a childhood dream of becoming a race car driver while selling peanuts and popcorn at Bowman Gray Stadium, Richard Childress bought his first race car for $20 and working out of his home garage has gone on to build what is widely considered one of the most legendary organizations in motorsports history. Over its 45-year history Richard Childress Racing has become synonymous with success and championships.

We have arranged for two tours at a Max 26 per tour – total 52. Requested that people plan to arrive 10 minutes before the tour.

The RCR race shop is next to the museum. The museum is open 10-2 on Saturdays, gift shop 10-3. We will meet in the parking lot at the museum. Tour is free.

    Childress Vineyards

Additional attraction nearby is The Childress Vineyards.  By opening the doors to Childress Vineyards in 2004, NASCAR team owner Richard Childress fulfilled a longtime dream that grew from the days when he first began racing in California and visited wineries with friends. What began as camaraderie and good times soon became an engaging passion for world-class wines and then the vision to build a world-class winery. The Childress winery is about 5 miles away.

There is a small restaurant at the Winery called the Bistro but reservations are necessary due to size and popularity.  Welcome is close to Lexington so BBQ lovers can find a BBQ joint that suits them.
