The term of the current chair of the Student Programming Committee expires in June 2020. In the last year of a Chair's term, they are assisted by a Chair-Elect who then serves a three-year term as Chair. The Chair of the Student Programming Committee is selected by the Senior Vice President, Student and Early Career Development, with recommendations from the current Chair and Committee.
If you have extensive experience with ASME's student programming, including leadership in developing and implementing it and working with students on it, and would like to be considered for the position, please complete the SECD Candidate application:
https://community.asme.org/student_early_career_development/m/mediagallery2/11194/download.aspx
And send it to neasc@asme.org no later than April 10, 2019.

The SECD has volunteer openings for Members-at-Large (MAL) to serve on the Council. The three MAL are voting members of the Council. Terms begin in June 2018 and last for one year, with the option to renew for a total of three years. MALs focus on a particular area of interest to the Sector and its goals. The current priorities for SECD are:

• Build on the E-Fest events, expanding successful events and developing the replicable “EFX” concept
• Hold FutureME Mini-Talks at conferences in the US or abroad
• Collaborate with other Sectors on ECE programs that will increase engagement and drive membership and volunteerism
• Increase retention of student members into the early years of their careers
• Improve self-sufficiency and increase revenues
• Reach and serve a truly global constituency
• Explore new ways to communicate to and among student and early career engineers

If you have an interest in deeper engagement with the SECD, please contact me (neasc@asme.org) for more information, a job description, and an application.

Beginning in June 2018, the SECD will have four representatives and three alternates to ASME's Nominating Committee. The Nominating Committee selects candidates for ASME's volunteer leadership (President and members of the Board of Governors).
There are two vacancies for NC Members and two vacancies for Alternates. Please consider this important opportunity to be part of the SECD Sector voice in ASME's leadership.
