In support of regional events, the Committee on Student Leader Training is offering advanced training for select student section representatives so they can, in turn, train other student leaders in their regions.
This training will include critical skills needed to plan a local student leader training event for multiple universities. The training will be provided during a 2-day conference taking place at the 2015 International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition (IMECE) in Houston, Texas (USA) on November 13th -15th.
Student Leader Conference - Student Section Leaders desiring to attend the face-to-face conference are encouraged to apply, and you need not be attending IMECE. In addition to the training for volunteer leadership, ASME Student Members will have the opportunity to network with friends, meet and brainstorm with other attendees. You will also observe two IMECE sessions as part of the conference.
How do I attend the conference?
Applying for the Conference
All ASME student section leaders who want to attend must 1) complete an application AND 2) be invited to participate at the SLTC in Houston, TX.
Funding requests for those selected to attend will also be considered based on application submissions and project plans cited in the application, and available funding. Selected student section representatives will be notified of available funding prior to the conference.

ASME Student leaders who do not need or did not request funding assistance from CVTD are still encouraged to apply and to attend. Please fill out the application normally and indicate you are not in need of funding but putting 0 in the requested funding amount. Your application will also be considered on merit and space available at the conference.

Travel Reimbursement Information: DEADLINE for submission is 12:00 Midnight, Sunday, November 29th.
Please fill out the reimbursement form found here. You may include your costs for hotel, meals (at times other than provided meals) and travel, including all receipts for expenditures up to the amount specified in your invitation letter. Email a PDF of your reimbursement form with all receipts scanned and a chart identifying expenditures by the deadline above.
International payments will be made via electronic wire transfer. A wire transfer information form is necessary only for non-US participants and can be found here. If you are a non-US participant please make sure to include your completed wire transfer form with your reimbursement submission.

INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL & VISA
Please see the 2015 IMECE Informational page (link in the column to the left) for information on getting a letter of support of your Tourist class Visa. A business Visa is not necessary and is more difficult, as well as takes more time to acquire.
ASME has retained the services of a photographer to capture photo images of the events and activities from the conference. The photographer will be taking photos as assigned by the ASME Communications Department. All photographs are the sole property of ASME, and ASME retains all rights in and to said photographs. These photographs may be used for promotional purposes only, including, but not limited to, the ASME website. If you require more information about the use of IMECE photographs, please go to the media desk at Conference Registration.
In addition, we will conduct a photo contest during SLTC, and any photos posted from the conference will also be used for promotional purposes as described above.
